How do you interact with Facility Managers?
I have been lucky enough to have the chance to work with Facility Managers over the course of my sales career. The commonality between those jobs and the one I hold currently with BluSky Restoration is that I have always been a resource for providing consultation and support, though the means of support has varied over the years. At BluSky Restoration my goal is to be the first person you think of when it comes to providing support in the most dire and unexpected circumstances. I am the person who is there to help make your facility whole again with the support of the amazing team I have backing myself and, in turn, your company.
Tell us about a favorite project related to working with a Facility Manager.
It is hard to pinpoint just one. I have worked with numerous facility managers in many different industries and each one is so very unique. However, the most gratifying projects have been with college and university campuses. Colleges and universities, not only vary in size, but each has their own exclusive structure, along with a myriad of facilities under a single umbrella. From residential dormitories to athletic facilities and various classroom buildings, these campuses have presented many different challenges and given me invaluable experience, as a Business Development Manager, that can be utilized throughout the facilities management space.
What is your greatest success story related to working with Facility Managers?
Before working at BluSky Restoration, I worked as a Business Development Executive for Dyson and an Outdoor Sales Representative for Waste Management. Both positions had me as the representative for the company on one of Philadelphia’s most well-known college campuses. In both circumstances I was charged with supporting the university in meeting their sustainability goals. While the industries I was a part of were both very different, being able to maintain the relationship I had with the Facilities Management teams and support them in meeting their goals to become a greener campus in multiple ways was extremely rewarding.
Tell us about a challenge or obstacle that you faced working with a Facilities Manager and how you overcame it.
Facilities departments in Healthcare within each job I have held, have always put my position as Business Development Manager to the test. The regulations in Healthcare Facilities are the most structured and reported on, leaving very little leeway to create a unique solution. When walking into a hospital or healthcare system, I need to make sure that the product or company I am representing is bringing the most efficient, safe and transparent solution to minimize the impact on hospital personnel and their patients. The obstacles associated with servicing these facilities have required me to present solutions that differentiate my companies from the competition via superior product design and sophistication of offering. I have continually had the good fortune of working for robust service providers, who maintain and pride themselves on having the highest standards for safety within their industry. When working with hospitals, in particular, Infectious or Quality Control departments, it is incredibly important to ensure that all safety regulations are met and that they understand the concerns they have for their hospitals and the patients they are caring for is just as important to me as it is to them. The standards for safety and concern for our clients is one of the primary reasons I decided to continue my career with BluSky Restoration.
What is something that most people do not know about you?
I have always loved music. In the 5th grade I started playing the clarinet and played throughout high school. I always thought being in the school band was such a geeky thing, so normally I never shared how much I loved it. I was asked several times to move from concert band to symphonic band because I was actually pretty good. I never told my parents this but was not left with much of a choice when my band director sent a letter home asking that I participate in Bands Across America, which is where 100 or so students from suburbs surrounding Philadelphia perform concerts across Europe. Not wanting to miss out on this opportunity I told my parents that I was in fact pretty good (They were always unsure because I never practiced at home) and they should probably let me participate, which they thankfully did. For two weeks me and close to 100 of my new friends performed approximately 10 concerts, in countries such as France, Austria and Germany. Fun fact: I can still play Tearin’ Up My Heart by N’ Sync on the clarinet.
What learning experience would you pass onto future FM’s?
As a sales rep, it is important for me to say that my only goal is to make your job easier, so please never hesitate to ask how I (or my team at BluSky) can be a positive resource for you. Please feel free to call me at 267-838-4844 to find out how.
