George has been employed at Health Partners Plans for 27 years and has a BA in Business Management from Peirce. In 2020, George earned his FMP (Facility Management Professional). George joined IFMA in 2016 and became a member of the Membership Committee. In 2017, he joined the Program Committee of which he became Co-Chair in 2018.
How did you get into Facility Management?
I started working for Health Partners Plans for 27 years ago in 1994. As my career path grew, I became the supervisor of Facilities in 2013 and in 2015, I became the Manager of Facilities and Mail Center.
Tell us about a favorite project.
There are many projects that were successful, but the one that stands out the most was due to the Covid pandemic, in March of 2020, we had to relocate over 1000 employees to work from home, and my staff along with the IT department accomplished this project within one week!
What is your greatest success story?
I went back to college later in life and received my BA in Business Management from Peirce, as well as achieving my FMA in my 40’s.
Tell us about a challenge or obstacle that you faced in the Facilities field and how you overcame it.
The challenge I have faced in the last 18 months was keeping the building running while working from home due to Covid. It was an enormous challenge but everything has been kept up and running smoothly and hopefully we will have staff back soon with minimal issues upon their return.
What is something that most people do not know about you?
Most people do not know that I like to cruise, and with this pandemic it has been rough. Another thing a common person would not know about me is that I used to run 5Ks and have over 100 pairs of sneakers.
What learning experience would you pass onto future FM’s?
I would recommend getting involved with IFMA, there are so many opportunities to network and to learn from the professionals and vendors that are in the organization.
